Â
French toast is a European dish which is basically bread soaked with egg and milk and cooked on a pan. They can form a delightful breakfast for kids and adults alike.
Â
Any kind of bread can be used, but if you are cutting a loaf, cut thick slices so it can soak the mixture nicely. Also, a day or two old bread is good for making French toast as it does not disintegrate when soaked.
French toast can be sweet or savoury. Sweet version is usually served topped with honey or maple syrup and fruits. Savoury French toast can be modified to add any number of your favorite fillings to the egg and mix mixture. Onions, spring onions and herbs etc. are commonly added.
Since in India, a big number do not have eggs, we are going to do another post on easy eggless French toast recipes.
