Toddler Food Chart
At 2 years, your toddler is a proficient eater. She can eat everything that you are eating with less spice, as long as there is no history of allergy. These plans try to keep a balance of nutrients across meals, by giving you ideas to ensure a healthy and balanced diet for your child, but it is important to keep in mind that your child is unique and you must follow her cue when feeding.
Unlike food chart for babies, you will see more variety here. Also, dairy is limited to 1-2 cups per day, so that children do not fill themselves up on milk alone. Give wide variety of dairy products if you child does not like milk, like cheese, paneer, curd etc. The portions are tentative, so if your child wants to eat more, count your blessings and give more too.
Daily Routine/ Feeding Schedule of my 5 years old Preschooler
We have divided the food chart into vegetarian and non-vegetarian charts, as per the feedback of our readers.
For vegetarians, the main source of proteins are the legumes or pulses. Remember to include wide variety of pulses in your child’s diet. From lentils to chickpeas to beans and soya, there is no dearth of variety. Also include nuts, seeds and dairy in some form in your child’s diet. Alternative grains like ragi, buckwheat, millets too have good amounts of protein in them, so no need to fret that your child is not getting enough protein.

Some tips for parents of toddlers:
- Try not to over-feed.

- This is the age when healthy eating habits can be cultivated and nurtured for life.
- Talk to your child about nutrition and difference between healthy and junk food.
- Eat healthy yourself as children learn by watching you.

my child is 26 months old….he is nt eating properly…not gaining height…he is underweight also…
Hi Charu, y
Is he active otherwise? Toddlers are notorious for being picky eaters and being overactive leading to less gain in weight. Usually there is nothing to worry, but you may mention this to his doctor on next visit.
Meanwhile, you may give him some calorie-dense food to help weight gain. Do go through below articles.

Hi my son is 24months BT he doesn’t eat solid foods he likes liquid I also give liquid like banana shake rawa milk and biscuits etc……how I progress chewing to my baby tell me plsssss
Please stop pureeing his food. At least offer mashed food, so that he gets used to lumpy food. Offer finger foods which he might like. If he likes banana, cut it into slices and offer him. Don’t insist that he eats it. Let him make a mess if he wants. He might want to explore it and put it in mouth.
My child is18 month she is having cold twice in months that’s why she does not eat

Hi Sonal,
Her intake seems fine. Just try and move her to finger foods where she has more control and she will also get into a habit eating chunky food. Give her fruit slices, banana slices, chiku slices, mini idli etc.
Do not force her to finish everything. Control the urge to make her eat. Offer it to her and then leave her to eat. Give her only a little amount at a time. Gradually she will start enjoying her food.
Also, weight depends on a lot of factors so don’t worry as long as she is healthy and gaining milestones on time.
Hope this helps.
Thank you Priya,

Hi Priya,
My son age is 2.5 years and his weight is 11 kg.
he only love to drink milk by bottle, and not interested to eat chapatti, rice, and if I introduce any new healthy home made food he just look at it smell it and say no. if i try to feed him he just through the food plate.
some time he like to eat sausages, fry fish , and scramble egg but that is also very rare.
he like fried food like bhajji, chakali but i cant offer him all time as he start coughing at night time.
His pediatrician put him on tonic, but that doesn’t help too. Doctor ask to stop offering milk by bottle. i did this but hi was not eating anything else so again i put him on milk bottle.
Hi is active boy and angry too. please suggest how do i increase his appetite. and love towards healthy food.
Thanks ,
Sushma

Hi Priya,
Was eagerly waitig to see you active again. Am trying to follow your food chat for my 27 months daughter but unable to decide on fruit and milk quantity. Pl help.
Asap. My daughter is very skinny with the problem that she is always hungry because of which she spoils her stomach frequently with no weight gain. Pl let me know what is the right quantity of each fruit for her and time gap after each feed. Pl.
Hi Kajal,
If you feel that some fruits are causing problems, then discontinue them for some time. For 2 years old, bananas, apples, papaya, chiku, melons, etc are mild fruits which should not cause too much problem. Half a bowl of any fruit at a time should be OK.

His diet looks great. Most kids this age are fussy eaters. Try giving him things that he likes. You can give fruit pieces or even pieces of chapati which he can pick up an dput in his mouth. Do not make a fuss if he doesn’t eat at first. Keep trying and it will happen. 🙂
