Here we give some healthy and wholesome vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to plan your toddler’s meals around.

If your child does not get up very early , you may start right at breakfast. This food chart for toddlers is just a sample and you must tweak it to suit your baby’s and your preference and convenience.


Diet plans / Food Chart for toddlers


Early Morning

A glass of milk, 2 marie biscuits


Vegetarian options :

1/2 bowl of milk with cornflakes and ½ banana

1/2 cup oatmeal with ½ teaspoon of honey and half an apple

1/2 cup dalia made with milk with crushed or powdered nuts

1/2 cup suji halwa with powdered cashews and almonds

1/2  bowl of vegetable poha

1 cheese and tomato sandwich

1 vegetable sandwich

 ½ stuffed vegetable parantha

1 idli with peanut chutney

½  cup suji upma with vegetables

1 small cheela with tomato chutney or sauce

2 pieces paneer sandwich dhokla with green chutney

Non-vegetarian options:

1 scrambled egg with buttered toast

1 Omelette with buttered toast

French toast

2 small Banana pancakes with honey

Mid-morning Snack

You should keep this snack light as there is not much gap between this and lunch and filling up on this would not leave much room for lunch.

 1 small banana, a small apple, 1 orange, half a cup cut papaya or any other seasonal fruit

2 marie or whole-wheat biscuits

½  cup cut seasonal fruit

1/2 glass shikanji with honey

 ½ cup plain chaas



Vegetarian options:

1 small chapatti smeared with little ghee with ¼ cup dal and ¼ cup vegetable. Keep serving different vegetables and dals.

¼ cup dal and ¼ cup seasonal vegetable with ½ cup rice. Add ½ teaspoon ghee to dal.

1 cup vegetable khichdi with ½ teaspoon ghee on top.

½ cup rice with ½ cup of sambar and 1 teaspoon peanut chutney.

1 cup vegetable pulao with ½ cup yogurt or raita.

½ cup matar paneer with ½ cup rice or 1 small parantha.

Non-vegetarian options:

Vegetable pulao with ¼ cup egg curry

1 small chapatti with ¼ cup chicken curry and salad

½ cup rice with ¼ cup fish curry and veggies on the side

Mild chicken biryani with mixed veg raita


Evening Snack


½ cup milk with 2 wholewheat crackers

1 small sandwich with mixed fruit jam and butter

1 smallpeanut butter sandwich

½ cup fresh fruit cut in to cubes and ½ cup milk

1 cup fresh fruit milkshake(banana, mango, cheeku etc)

1 cup fresh fruit smoothie

5-6 sweet potato fries

3-4 Tofu or paneer sticks




Most kids don’t want to eat a heavy dinner as their activity levels go down in the evening, so do not insist on them eating a lot. Let the kid eat whatever and however much she wants.

½ cup Vegetable pulao with mixed raita

½ to 1 cup Vermicelli upma with vegetables

½ to 1 cup Vegetable pasta with cheese

½ to 1 cup Vegetable noodles

½ to 1 cup Khichdi with veggies

1 small chapatti with paneer bhurji

Non-vegetarian options:

    Nice healthy, Diet chart for toddlers priya ,this one looks very helpful for mothers .A lot of times,kids get fed up from the regular food which they get daily ,this will help us to give them a change.

    Hi, thanks for the sample. Could you please specify or guide how much would a cup measure? There are way too many sizes of cups. Does it have any standard measure as in baking?

    my son is 8 yrs old and he weighs only 18.5 kgs. can you please prepare a vegetarian diet chart .
    the chart you have done is very helpful thank son is very active kid. he is very cooperative and not a picky eater.
    if he dosn’t put on weight, the doctor has told that he has to do the blood test and other different tests. please help me out.

      I can understand your concerns. I am working on food charts for older children and will share asap. Good thing is that your son is not a picky eater. Try adding extra calories to what he eats normally. Can you share his current food routine, so we can suggest based on that.

    Thank you for being a great helper. My concern is my daughter is 2 years. She never deny any food. But dont know what is going wrong she spoils her stomach very often. Mat be time gap or the quantity. Pl help me. Say morning milk to evening dinner time gap and quantity of each meal snack and milk. Also 1 cup equals 200 or 100 ml. Thanks.

    Hi I have 2 kids(boys) 8.5 years(24.5 kg) and 2.5 (10 kg) years old.
    Both are not so healthy. Elder one not eating whole meal and very choosy about veggies not having milk & rice daily.
    Younger one only have chapati or rice without any veggie / ghee. M very much worried about his diet. Can you please suggest the diet plan and how and which foods we should include.
    Now a days milk, fruits and vegetables are not pure how we can provide them nutritions to grow healthy?
    Asked doctors they say once they will grow they will have whole meal, but brain develops well till 5 years and health helps for all things.
    Please please suggest

    My child is 2.5 years but he does not eat properly specially dal & Veggie only chapaati he have which also depend on his mood that is the reason he is getting too week .

    I am mother of 2.5 yrs of a baby girl.
    She is a fussy eater so the result is she is suffering from constipation.
    Besides this she is very stubborn and very choosy about her food. She don’t like any fruit any vegetable. You can say she only have cow milk,oats or daliya or regular basis sometimes chapaati or pronthi.
    Please help me with the great disaster.
