Scribbling is an important milestone for toddlers and it is important to encourage them. Scribbling improves their hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and also sets them on the path of writing eventually. Good as it is, scribbles with crayons do not look so great on the walls. Here we have a look at some of the tried and tested tricks to get rid of crayons and pencil marks from walls using stuff that we all have lying around the house.

Pencil Eraser to remove crayon marks

Easiest way is to just rub the crayon marks off using a pencil eraser. Plastic crayons are all erasable, but even wax crayon marks can be taken off using an eraser.

Dish wash bar

Take a little bit of your green dish wash bar on a wet scrubber and rub gently over the marks. Finally wipe off with a damp rag. Poof! The marks are gone.

Non-gel toothpaste

Use your regular non-gel toothpaste. Apply toothpaste on a rag or old toothbrush on the marks in gentle circular motion. Wipe off using a damp rag. It works most of the time.

 

Soap

Apply a little bit of blue detergent bar using a scrubber or sponge. Gently rub off to remove the crayon marks.

 

Nail polish remover

Nail polish remover can remove more than your chipped nail paint. Take some on a cotton ball or a cotton cloth and clean the marks. It instantly removes marks.

Baking soda

Take 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a bowl. Add a few drops of water to make a paste. Apply this paste using a rag or brush and gently rub over the marks. The marks will be gone instantly.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a wonder product. It cleans, it buffs, it shines and it deodorises. Try using vinegar using a sponge or over pencil marks to remove them.

 

Hand wash liquid

Another way to remove crayon marks from walls is to use the humble hand wash. Take a little hand wash liquid on a soft cotton cloth or a wipe and gently rub in circular motion to get rid of the marks from your walls.

 

Dish wash Liquid

Scrubbing with dish wash liquid from your kitchen will also take off the marks off the walls.

 

Baby Oil

I was not very sure of this, but this works. Just dab a rag in baby oil and wipe off the marks gently.

Top Tip

Get your child a drawing books, doodle board or chalkboard to scribble. Good chance that this might save some of your walls.

 

So, it is not so difficult to wipe the canvas clean once your child has made her masterpiece. These are some the ways that I have used to get rid of marks made by my 2 years old on walls.
