1 large potato
1 tsp homemade butter/ ghee
Breastmilk/ Formula milk
Recipe
Wash and peel the potato and cut it into quarters.
Boil or steam the potato till it very well cooked.
Drain the water and let the potatoes cool down a little.
Now take them in a large bowl and mash using a fork till smooth.
Add butter or ghee to introduce little fat and mix well.
Add breast milk or formula milk to get the desired consistency.
You can give this mash or puree to baby anytime of the day but when you give it at first, it is best given during the morning hours.
Potato can easily be mixed with other vegetables to make more complex purees and mashes.

- You can give this potato mash to baby or kids at any time of the day. However, it is best to give it during the morning hours when you are introducing it for the first time.
- Do not use a blender or mixer to make the puree, as potato turns gummy when you use a blender. Always make the potato mash or puree using a fork.
- You can boil or pressure cook the potatoes. At the same time, steaming or baking them in the oven also works for older children. Make sure that the potatoes are well-cooked.
- For older children, you can add flavours like different herbs and spices to the potato mash.
