Make your own Toy Aquarium for kids

My little girl is enamored with aquariums. She can watch fishes swim for hours. Once we could not enter a restaurant for a long time even though there was place available, because they had a large aquarium in the waiting area. She finally relented after much cajoling but dinner was interspersed with many breaks to see the fishes.

I have been toying with the idea of building an aquarium for her for some time and yes, I finally did it. I made this while Aanya was taking her nap, so it took me less than a couple hours. Here is a picture process of the same.

Start with an empty transparent chocolate box.

Draw your child’s favorite underwater characters on paper and cut them. I wanted to make a turtle and more fishes as well but the box is small and could not accommodate more but you can add as many as you want. You can also use pictures from an old book or charts.

Draw and color on both sides in different colors , so that the scene looks different from the two sides.

To make the fishes swim, string them with a little thread and stick to the lid using a piece of transparent tape

Fix your creatures and plants and castle or any thing you want to the bottom of the box.

Close the box and tape the sides using transparent tape.

And your aquarium is ready to be played with. It is a plastic box, so sturdier than paper or cardboard and there is no limit to what you can do with it.
